Jonathan Collins shot a 3-under par 67 for medalist honors and teammate James Morton fired a 68 for Santa Barbara High’s boys golf team, but those scores weren’t enough as Ventura beat the Dons 368-381 in a Channel League match at Buenaventura GC on Thursday.
“Ventura’s depth was the difference,” said Santa Barbara coach James Bedard.
Gregory Robarge shot 68 to lead the Cougars, whose four other players shot in the 70s.
Bedard said Fabio Rodgriguez played his best round of the season, shooting 38 on the back nine to post Santa Barbara’s third best score at 80.
Santa Barbara is 5-5 overall and 1-1 in league, Ventura is 4-0, 1-0.
