SBCC’s Steven Lam parred the first playoff hole to beat Hancock’s Anthony Galletti on Monday and claim the individual title in the Santa Barbara Invitational men’s golf tournament.
Lam shot 81 on a very windy day at La Purisima GC in Lompoc and had a two-day total of 6-over-par 150. Galletti shot 72 and 78. Blake McPherson (76-77) tied for fifth for the Vaqueros and Johnny Hogan shot 77.
Former Dos Pueblos High standout Brett Patton, who’s a freshman at SBCC, shot 80-75–155 as an individual and tied for seventh.
Santa Barbara shot 398 on Monday for a 777 total that was 16 strokes better than Ventura. Hancock was third in the five-team field at 800. The first round was played at Marshallia Ranch.
“It was really windy, probably over 30 mph at times,“ said coach Chuck Melendez. “This is our first win of the year and it‘s all about gaining experience and confidence.”
The Vaqueros will play in WSC No. 4 on Monday at River Ridge in Oxnard.
