Charlie Holyoke matched par with a 72 on Monday, leading SBCC to second place in WSC No. 4 at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.
Holyoke, a freshman from Seattle, shot his season best to tie for fifth. Teammates Brett Patton, Johnny Hogan and Dodge Ward all shot 76. Ron Hatfield of Canyons was the medalist at 69.
Patton played his last seven holes in 5-under-par with an eagle and three birdies.
Canyons won its fourth straight WSC tourney with a 363. SBCC finished 14 shots back with a season-low 377. Ventura was third at 378.
“It was another day when we didn’t put it together completely,” said Vaquero coach Chuck Melendez. “And that’s a little frustrating because we just shot 365 with only five guys on the same course in a practice round. We struggled early today but did a nice job of coming back.”
Canyons leads the WSC standings at 24-0, followed by SBCC (19-5) and Citrus (13-11).
The Vaqueros will host the North-South Cup on Sunday and Monday at Monarch Dunes and Blacklake, both in Nipomo.
