Charlie Holyoke fired a 2-under 70 on Monday to guide SBCC to second place in the fifth WSC men’s golf tournament at Soule Park in Ojai.
Holyoke, a freshman from Seattle, had eight birdies in his season-best round and finished second out of 42 players. Sidney Wolf of Canyons was the medalist at 68.
Johnny Hogan, a freshman from Santa Ynez, shot 72 for the Vaqueros and Brett Patton turned in a 74. SBCC shot 7-over 367 as a team, finishing nine shots behind Canyons, which combined for a 2-under 358.
“It was a pretty good day but we need to finish stronger,” said coach Chuck Melendez.
Canyons is a perfect 30-0 at the midpoint of the conference season and SBCC is second at 24-6.
WSC No. 6 is set for Santa Maria Country Club on Monday at 10 a.m.
