James Morton tied an all-time Channel League record on Thursday by posting a round of 63 at Buenaventura Golf Course.
As a team, the Dons defeated Buena 365-397.
Morton’s round consisted of eight birdies and one bogey. Morton hit all 18 greens in regulation and had a four-foot birdie putt on 18 to set the record but it missed just left before he tapped in for par.
The record was originally set on the same day in 2008 by Albert Corral of San Marcos and Mason Field of Santa Barbara.
Jonathan Collins’ 67 was another great score for the Dons, who recorded their lowest team score of the season by 35 strokes. Collins drained a 30-foot putt on the 18th for an eagle.
Ryan Stoll kept up the good vibes for Santa Barbara with his own season low of 72.
