Santa Barbara High’s boys golf team shot a 400 in the first day of the Father Joe Barry Master Tournament in Sacramento on Friday.
It is Santa Barbara’s lowest team score of the season. Host Jesuit is leading the tournament with a score of 375.
“We continue to get better and this is the best 18-hole score we have posted this year,” said Dons coach James Bedard. “The fact that it was at a new course in a tournament is very promising, and we are trying to solidify the final (lineup) spots before the league season begins.”
Brandon Crane led the Dons with a 2-over par 74. Crane shot 1-under on the back nine to lead four Dons players in the 70s.
The Father Joe Barry Master Tournament is a two-day, 20-team tournament.
Santa Barbara returns to Ancil Hoffman Golf Course for the second round on Saturday.
