Westmont Baseball (16-16, 7-14 GSAC) was held to just three hits as the Warriors fell 4-1 to Biola (19-13, 11-11) in a Golden State Athletic Conference game in La Mirada.
The Warriors lone run came in the first inning after second baseman Spencer Ferdun was walked to lead off the game. Catcher Brandon Gildea, who had two of the Warriors hits, singled through the left side to move Ferdun to second base.
Fredun reached third when first baseman Tommy Hocutt flew out to left and then scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by designated hitter David Gabel.
The Warriors held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs, Sam Thorne singled up the middle and was replaces on the base pads by Bryan Castelli. Castelli stole second, and then reached third on a single by James Petrilli. Castelli then scored on a wild pitch by Westmont starter Brian Murphy (2-4) who took the loss.
Biola scored another run in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Thorne, then added two more runs in the eighth on an RBI double by Michael Chriss and a sacrifice fly by Johnny Farrington.
Nick Turner (7-2) took the complete game win for the Eagles while striking out seven.
The Warriors and Eagles will square off again tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
