After a spotty first set on Thursday, San Marcos’ boys volleyball team turned it around and defeated Ventura 20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 26-24 in a Channel League match.
The decision leaves the Royals – who were coming off a five-set win over Dos Pueblos on Tuesday – 2-0 going into Spring Break.
“We have some very happy but tired players,” said Royals head coach Roger Kuntz.
The Royals came out sluggish but looked much better in the last three sets according to Kuntz.
“We were still kind of on the bus. Once we got a sweat, we got back to playing Royals volleyball,” Kuntz said.
San Marcos, now 13-4 overall, had several notable contributions. Defensive specialist Noah Shields collected four aces and six digs. At the net, middle Max Wilson recorded six solo blocks and Taylor Mann had five kills. Baker Johnson’s 10 kills were also key to victory. Chris Newton ended the match with a block of his own.
