San Marcos’ boys volleyball team took out visiting Camarillo on Tuesday in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 non-league sweep.
The Royal, who are out to a 6-2 start to the season, are playing some of the best early-season volleyball that head coach Roger Kuntz has seen in the past six years.
“We didn’t play good defense as we did over the weekend but we still had enough firepower,” Kuntz said.
Shane Hauschild and Baker Johnson continued their onslaught from the outside, compiling 14 and 12 kills respectively. The Royals also got four kills and four aces from middle Taylor Mann.
“For our middle hitter to do that really helped us out,” Kuntz said.
Setter Christian Widmer recorded 33 assists in the quick three-set match.
San Marcos travels to face Arroyo Grande, the No. 8-ranked team in Division 2, on Thursday. The Royals’ next home match is on Tuesday versus Valencia.
