Santa Barbara High won three matches Saturday and captured the Bronze Division at the Best of the West boys volleyball tournament in Poway.
After going 1-2 on Friday, the Dons swept Poway, West View and Granite Bay in two sets. They beat Granite Bay for the Bronze title, 25-20, 29-27.
?Our boys rose to the occasion and played really well,? Santa Barbara coach Chad Arneson said. ?Tournaments are about adding confidence and our boys played really well, considering our performance Friday night. I think we?re headed in the right direction.?
Arneson singled out the play of middles Will Pulice and Channing Peake and the steady, consistent all-around play of Joe Rafferty. He also praised setter Hart Pitcher for his good distribution in a 5-1 offense.
Santa Barbara (5-3) is back in action on Tuesday, hosting a West Ranch team that has players 7-foot and 6-9.
Dos Pueblos beat Poway to take seventh place in the tournament. The Chargers earlier lost to Crespi and Torrey Pines.
