Santa Barbara High’s boys volleyball team was stretched to five games for the first time this season, surviving West Ranch 23-25, 25-21, 12-25, 25-23, 15-11 in a non-league match on Tuesday.
“It was definitely a great team effort,” said Dons coach Chad Arneson after his team upped its record to 6-3. “Pretty resilient in the way they fought for each other.”
The Dons were up for the entire fifth game, getting a key point at 12-9 to maintain a cushion.
Hart Pitcher dished out 49 assists as Santa Barbara featured three players with 10 or more kills. Channing Peake led the way with 12 kills and six blocks. Ryan Worley also collected 12 kills and Joe Rafferty added 11.
Pitcher also recorded three service aces and Carl Mendoza led the team with 12 digs.
Santa Barbara’s next match is its Channel League opener on Thursday at Ventura.
