Santa Barbara High opened Channel League with a sweep over Ventura on Thursday. The scores were 25-15, 25-22, 25-15.
“We took care of business,” said Dons coach Chad Arneson, who was able to clear his bench in the match. “Everyone got their feet wet in a league match.”
Jonah Iwanaga provided four kills and two blocks and Duffy McElroy also had four kills off the bench.
Joe Rafferty led a balanced attack with seven kills and served three aces. Middle Channing Peake was a force at the net with six kills and five blocks.
The Dons are playing in the Dos Pueblos Invitational on Saturday.
“We’re looking forward to the DPI, and we’re going to try to get to the finals like last year and, hopefully, try to win it this time,” said Arneson.
