Kickin Vixen, Danger Kitty, Cherry Napalm and the gang are lacing up their skates again and ready to knock the stuffing out of their opponents.
The Mission City Brawlin’ Betties kick off their fifth season of women’s roller derby on Saturday against the Inland Empire Derby Divas at the Earl Warren Showgrounds at 5 p.m.
A Bettie is described on the team’s web site as an athlete, a pin-up girl, a rocker and a brute rolled into one bad-ass derby girl.
The team is made up of local women, women you may work with, hang out with, or are your neighbors. When they suit up and step on the rink they adopt names like Bonnie Von Blitzkrieg, P.S. I Shove You, Sancha Soregasm and Lady Vulvamort. Their coach is known as Dita de los Muertos.
Tickets are $5 and they can be purchased at the gate.
