Johnny Brontsema and Connor McManigal belted two-run homers, powering Santa Barbara High’s baseball team to a 14-0 win over St. Joseph in the final game of the Central Coast Tournament on Thursday,
Brontsema’s blast came in the fourth inning and McManigal hit his in the fifth. The UC Irvine-bound Brontsema also hit a double went 3-for-4 on the day.
Jeff Paschke has a good hitting day, going 3-for-5 with two RBIS. Michael Day had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
Santa Barbara starter Gabe Grandcolas pitched five innings to pick up his first win. He allowed just two hits and didn’t walk a batter.
“This was a good ego booster before we start league,” said Dons assistant Mike Cooney.
Santa Barbara (4-1-1) plays host to Ventura today in its Channel League opener.
