Dos Pueblos rallied for a 4-3 win over Simi Valley in an opening-round game at the San Luis Obispo baseball tournament on Wednesday.
The Chargers trailed 2-0 before scoring single runs in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
“We faced a good pitcher who kept us at bay early,” DP coach Nick Katzenstein said. “We were able to get runners on but never exploded for the big inning.”
The Chargers (7-4) collected six hits. Ben York went 2-for-3, Dylan Rohde had a double and Anthony Spiritosanto had key run-scoring hit in the bottom of the sixth.
Josh Tedeschi picked up his fourth win of the season. He went 5.1 innings, allowing five hits, while walking three and striking out four. Gabe Speier got the last five outs to earn his first save.
In a late game, Dos Pueblos lost to San Luis Obispo 6-3.
The host Tigers erupted for five runs in the third inning.
“We didn’t help ourselves by giving up five runs in the third and committing four errors in the game,” said Katzenstein.
James Savage went 2-for-4 and drove in a run and Gabe Speier had a double for the Chargers (7-5).
