Carpinteria drop both games of a doubleheader against Santa Ynez on Saturday. The Pirates scored nine runs in the second to win the first game 14-1 and took the nightcap 5-3.
“It was a solid recovery from game one but still a loss,” Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney said. “Marcus Hutchinson set the tone on the mound. Kevin Stein was good behind the plate and at the plate.”
Stein had two hits and drove in a run in the second game.
Santa Ynez honored retiring coach Dave Kuehn.
“He is one of the great baseball men in the history of Santa Barbara County,” said Cooney. “We will miss the chance to see him each year at the helm of the Pirate.”
