SBCC was seeded No. 12 for the Southern Cal Women’s Basketball Regional and will travel to No. 5 San Bernardino Valley on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Vaqueros (17-12, 5-5) tied for third in the WSC North and were the only team to beat No. 2 Ventura in conference play. SBCC started 4-0 in conference, then dropped five of its last six games.
The teams met early in the year with San Bernardino Valley posting a 65-34 win on Nov. 17 to claim the championship of the Vaqueros’ MTXE Tournament.
“I’m really excited about our draw,” said coach Sandrine Krul, who’s guided the Vaqueros to the playoffs in eight of the last nine years. “We played them a long time ago and we’re not the same team now. Anything can happen in the playoffs.”
The Wolverines (24-5) went 12-2 in the Foothill Conference and finished second to Mt. San Jacinto. San Bernardino has won two straight and 11 of 12.
The Wolverines lost to Ventura twice this year, by 17 and 10 points. SBCC handed Ventura its first WSC home setback in 23 years with a 70-67 triumph on Jan. 16.
