SBCC notched seven wins on Friday in the WSC Track and Field Relays at West L.A. in Culver City.
Four came on the men’s side, led by the 800 sprint relay team that set a meet record of 1:32.98. The squad consisted of Randy Davis, Geoffrey Brown, Cody Bidlow and Cliff Lekas.
Tristan Lake, a sophomore from San Marcos High, won the eighth full-field race of his career in the 400 hurdles (55.04). Other winners were freshman Ian Roberts in the 3,000 (8:49.09) and the 4×100 relay team of Carl Davis, Lekas, Randy Davis and Bidlow in 42.48.
The 4×400 relay unit of Lake, James Herb, Brown and Lekas was second in 3:20.87.
In the women’s meet, Kaytee Krivulka broke her school record for the fourth time while winning the hammer at 44.58 meters. Her heave of 146 feet, 3 1/8 inches is more than 12 feet further than her best from last year.
Other Vaquero winners were Kodie Herbert in the javelin (29.18m) and Kathryn Rucker in the high jump (1.60), the eighth-best mark in school history.
The 1600 sprint relay team of Sara Jungersten, Kalina Rock, Emily Walker and Nicole Bartlett took second in 4:24.23. The 4×100 relay unit of Jungersten, Walker, Rock and Samantha Wikmark was third in 50.78.
“We put some good marks out there with some good finishes,” said coach Scott Fickerson. “We showed some teams that we’ll be a force to be reckoned with.”
The Vaqueros will compete in the first WSC meet, called the North Meet, on Friday at Ventura.
