SBCC opened WSC women’s tennis action on Thursday with a stirring 5-4 win over defending conference champion Ventura at Pershing Park.
Vanessa Imani and Nadya Bravo earned an 8-6 doubles victory that proved to be the difference for the Vaqueros (2-1).
Bruna Magalhes won a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 thriller over Sonia Landeros at No. 1 singles and Bravo, Precious Ncube and Laura Wyatt also posted singles wins.
SBCC travels to Bakersfield on Thursday at 2 p.m.
