Santa Barbara High’s boys tennis team is off to an impressive start of the season.
The Dons knocked off Calabasas 11-7 on Tuesday to improve to 3-0.
“This was a big win for Santa Barbara as Calabasas finished last year ranked No. 6 in Division 1 and they have another strong team this year,” Dons coach Greg Tebbe said.
The doubles led the way for the Dons, winning seven of nine sets. Jack Damen and Avery Chernin swept their three sets, while the teams of Ryan Chung-Austin Trevillian and Morgan Hale-Mitchell Kuhn each two sets
“Our singles players also battled well the entire match winning four of nince sets against a very strong singles lineup from Calabasas,” said Tebbe.
The Dons will next travel to Fresno to compete in the prestigious California Tennis Classic later this week.
