Cal South,the governing body for youth soccer in Southern California, hosted its annual banquet on Saturday in Los Angeles to honor the more outstanding achievements of its member associations.
Santa Barbara Soccer Club was among the dignitaries as the boys of the 2012 National Championship team, their families and coach were present. The boys were congratulated and presented with their trophy again on stage.
Head Coach Rudy Ybarra also received an individual award for being the 2012 Youngers coach of the year. Among the recognitions and plaudits, Steve Hoffman, Director of Coaching (DOC) for Cal South recognized Santa Barbara SC as having become ?a State and National Power in the world of youth soccer and player development?.
Steve Hoffman was quoted as saying, ?It is amazing to see so many quality teams and players come out of a community of only 90,000 people. It is a testament to the professionalism of everyone involved with Santa Barbara Soccer Club?.
Coach Rudy Ybarra was presented with the Youngers Coach of the year award, 2012, for leading this group of talented boys to State, Regional & National Championships.
“What a great evening and well deserved acknowledgment from Cal South for an amazing season from these young men and team,” Ybarra said.
Coach Ybarra also recognized the club ?Great work is being done here at Santa Barbara SC, work that all of us can be proud of.?
In the past 4 years Santa Barbara Soccer Club has amassed an impressive haul of accolades including 3 State Championships: BU12, BU14 in 2009, and GU18 in 2012; 1 State Finalist: BU19 in 2010; 2 Regional Championships: BU12 in 2009 and BU14 in 2012; 1 National Championship: BU14 in 2012.
