The 2013 Rincon Classic will be held this weekend, March 2 and 3, it was announced Wednesday evening.
It is the ninth weekend of a 10-week waiting period, which was extended by two weeks by the California State Parks Department.
“It has been an interesting winter with a couple of good Sundays, but with extremely small Saturdays which prompted the postponements,” read a statement on the contest’s website. “With two weeks left in the waiting period, 85 degree weather, and average to good waves and conditions in the forecast, we are all systems go.”
“The 2013 event is dedicated to Daisy Love Merrick who passed away on Saturday February 16 after a four year battle with cancer. Daisy was such an inspiration in her faith and positive outlook on life and will live on in our hearts forever. Our community honors and celebrates her life and sends prayers and love out to the Merrick family.”
It’s the 30th year of the Rincon Classic, which remains a “locals only” contest.
