Blake McPherson fired an even-par 74 on the tough South Course on Wednesday, guiding SBCC to a fourth-place finish in the 14-team Tee-Off Classic at Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills.
McPherson shot his round on a course that measures 7,217 yards. He finished at 5-over 151 to tie for 13th in a field of 84 players. Charlie Holyoke (76-76–152) was a shot back, Dodge Ward shot 156 and Johnny Hogan finished at 157.
Orange Coast took the team title, edging Santiago Canyon by a stroke, 741-742. Glendale was third at 760 and SBCC was fourth with 772.
“Blake and Charlie were solid but the rest of our guys had some trouble putting,” noted SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “We’ve got a lot of talent and team chemistry, we just have to be patient and let these guys get acclimated to Community College golf.”
SBCC will play in WSC No. 1 on Monday at Valencia CC.
