San Marcos gave up a first-half goal and that’s all it took to knock the Royals out in the first round of the CIF Division 2 girls soccer playoffs.
The Royals fell at Hart 1-0.
“We made a couple of mistakes in the first half that cost us,” San Marcos coach Macie Berlin said. “We came back strong in the second half. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the ball in the net.”
The Royals (7-3-4) had a couple of chances on corner kicks but they couldn’t come up with a finishing touch.
The loss was only the team’s third since Channel League play began, Berlin noted.
“We feel good about (our season) and we’re hopeful for next year,” she said.
