Blake McPherson and Steven Lam turned in 4-over-par 76s on a windy Monday, guiding SBCC to second place in WSC No. 1 at Valencia Country Club.
The Vaqueros finished second in the seven-team golf tourney at 387. Canyons won with 376 strokes and Glendale was third at 393.
Charlie Holyoke and Johnny Hogan carded 78 for Santa Barbara and Dodge Ward shot 79. Luke Kristo of Canyons was the medalist at 71.
“I have high expectations for this team and I’m kind of surprised we’re not playing better,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “It was windy out there, with gusts up to 25 mph. We struggled a little with our short putts.”
SBCC will host WSC No. 2 on Monday at Alisal Ranch in Solvang, starting at 10:30 a.m.
