Dos Pueblos struggled from the free-throw line and that proved costly in Saturday night’s CIF Division 2A girls basketball playoff game at Norwalk.
The Chargers missed 17 of 19 from the charity stripe and suffered a 56-54 loss in overtime.
“We had the game won so many times,” DP coach Phil Sherman said. “I know the girls are hurting. This is one of the toughest losses I’ve ever had as a coach.”
Sherman said the game went back and forth, and Norwalk got into early foul trouble. But the Chargers couldn’t sink their free throws.
“We just didn’t do it at the free-throw. I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Jennifer Wetzel scored 12 points and Brandy Jimmenez added 11 for DP (9-15).
