Second-seeded Santa Barbara High rolled to a 60-40 win over visiting Antelope Valley in a first-round CIF Division 3AA girls basketball playoff game Thursday night.
Ivette Gil scored 21 points, including 11 of 13 free throws, and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Dons into a second-round game at Palos Verdes on Saturday night. Dessy Coleman added 11 points and freshmen Jada Howard and Amber Melgoza tallied 10 and 8 points, respectively. Melgoza led the team with 12 rebounds and Howard grabbed eight.
The Dons blew the game open early with its up-tempo style. They led 29-9 at halftime and 52-23 after three quarters.
Santa Barbara improves to 21-7 while Antelope Valley ends its season at 8-18.
