Dessy Coleman turned in a dominating all-around game, leading Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team to a 55-38 win over Dos Pueblos in the Channel League finale on Wednesday.
Santa Barbara completes the regular season with a 19-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league play, good for second place.
Coleman scored 20 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, had six assists and seven steals. Ivette Gil scored 15 points and had 12 rebounds and Amber Melgoza added six points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Dons.
Santa Barbara ran out to a 14-0 lead and led 31-14 at halftime.
The Dons got sloppy with the ball in the third quarter.
“Strong rebounding and pressure defense was able to allow us to make up for the mistakes,” said Santa Barbara coach Andrew Butcher.
The Dons, ranked No. 2 in CIF Division 3AA, await Sunday’s playoff pairings.
