Bishop Diego rebounded from its first Frontier League girls basketball loss by gutting out a 34-31 win over crosstown rival Carpinteria on Thursday.
Josie McCoy put the Cardinals in the lead (32-31) with 1:35 left and Jordyn Lilly followed with a basket in the final minute for a three-point advantage.
Bishop, which lost to Santa Paula on Tuesday, improves to 9-1 in league play and 16-8 overall. Carpinteria falls to 3-6, 10-11.
The Warriors gave Bishop trouble with their man-to-man defense. They held the Cardinals to nine points in the first half and 11 through three quarters.
But Bishop picked up its intensity in the fourth quarter and scored the last eight points of the game to rally from 31-26 deficit.
Greer Shull scored 19 points to lead the Cardinals. Charlie Fling and Lilly both had six rebounds.
