San Marcos opened its boys volleyball season on a winning note, beating Oxnard in four sets, 21-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-12.
Baker Johnson and Shane Hauschild paced the Royals attack with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Setter Christian Widmer handed out 21 assists and added four kills.
“We hit .400 as a team. I’m pleased with that,” said San Marcos coach Roger Kuntz.
The Royals play at the Redondo Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
