Laguna Blanca played up a couple of CIF divisions on Thursday night and dropped a four-set non-league volleyball match against Brentwood. The scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19.
Brentwood plays in Division 3 while Laguna Blanca is a Division 5 program.
The Owls struggled in their attack, committing 29 errors. They also had 10 service errors.
“The boys played hard tonight and learned a lot from playing a team at Brentwood’s level,” Laguna coach Dillan Bennett said. “It’s likely that we won’t see that level in our division of CIF this year, so it was a good test.”
Stephen McCaffery led Laguna Blanca with nine kills, while JT Aubrey added eight kills and Andrew Vignolo and Colton Johnson chipped in seven apiece.
The Owls are 1-1 on the season.
“Once we nail down our serving and can clean up our offense, we will be right on track,” said Bennett.
