Providence Hall’s boys basketball team upset the No. 6 seed in its Division 6 CIF playoff bracket on Wednesday, topping L.A. Adventist 51-41.
The Lions needed to win three of their final four regular season games just to get an at-large bid into the playoffs.
“Our guys for the past couple of games have been giving it their all,” said Providence Hall head coach Landon Boucher.
That playoff mentality carried into their CIF opener.
Nate Dutcher’s 22 points led the Lions.
“Man, he’s been so hot. He’s just a senior who realizes this could be his last high school game,” Boucher said of Dutcher.
Matt Eaton contributed 14 points while Erik Sheets added nine points and took three charges to lead the defensive effort.
The Lions will host their second-round game on Friday at Carpinteria High School. View the complete Division 6 Bracket HERE
