Seven of our eight area boys basketball teams have reached CIF’s postseason and learned their first-round opponents on Sunday.
Four of them have home games in the first round. Santa Barbara, San Marcos and Cate host playoff games on Wednesday while Dos Pueblos begins on Friday.
The Channel League champion Santa Barbara Dons (20-4) ?host Beverly Hills (14-11) at 7 p.m. in a Division 3AAA game.
In Division 3AA, Channel League runner-up San Marcos (17-8) is also at home for their opening playoff game. The Royals host Palos Verdes (7-19).
Dos Pueblos (15-9) also reached the postseason out of the Channel League. The Chargers, competing in Division 2A, host Norwalk (15-12) on Friday.
Bishop Diego earned an at-large bid coming from a strong Tri-Valley League. The Cardinals are the ninth seed in Division 5AA but will travel to La Sierra Academy, the Arrowhead League champion.
Condor League schools Cate, Laguna Blanca and Providence Hall will continue their seasons as well. Cate hosts its opener against AGBU of Pasadena. The Owls and Lions both travel.
