Seven Dos Pueblos wrestlers won matches on Friday at the Nogales Super Championships to advance to Saturday’s second day.
Cameron Cox, Nico Sorenson and Chad Lampe remain in the hunt for championships while Jeff Uyesaka, Eden Martinez, Jake Uyesaka and Andy Garcia are in the consolation bracket.
Sorenson and Lampe are in opposite semifinals in the same 120-pound division bracket. Sorenson’s quarterfinal victory came on a pin with two seconds left that prevented a loss on points. The fifth-seeded Sorenson beat the higher fourth-seed.
Cox is the top seed in his 113-pound division. Lampe will also be favored in his semifinal as the No. 2 seed.
