Three Bishop Diego football players earn All-State recognition

Bishop Diego football players Justin Brosnan and Anthony Carter have been selected to the Max Preps All-State Division 4 first-team defense, and Christian Pearson of the Cardinals was named to the second team.

Brosnan, a 5-10, 195-pound senior defensive end, was a terror on quarterbacks, recording 15.5 sacks on the year. He earned All-CIF-SS Northwest Division honors and was name to the Presidio Sports All-City Football team.

Max Preps All-State Team

Carter was chosen as a defensive back. The 5-10, 170-pound junior was recognized as the Presidio Sports All-City Offensive Player of the Year and earned All-CIF Northwest Division honors.

Pearson, a 5-10 200-pound linebacker, was selected to the Max Preps second-team defensive unit. An All-CIF Northwest Division and Presidio Sports All-City team pick, Pearson was the leading tackler for a 12-1 Bishop team with a total of 106, including 44 solo tackles. He also had three sacks and three interceptions.

In another honor for Carter, he was picked to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Medium Schools Division second team as a multi-purpose player. He played quarterback, defensive back and running back.

Bishop Diego was included in the Medium Schools Division based on the league and CIF Division it played. The Cardinals won the Tri-Valley League and reached the CIF-SS Northwest Division semifinals, falling to North Torrance.
