The cold weather outside didn?t have any effect on what was going on in Westmont?s Murchison Gym Saturday night.
The host Warriors were on fire shooting the basketball. Preston Branson made 10 of 11 shots en route to 27 points and the team shot 74 percent from the floor in the second half in beating San Diego Christian 90-72 in the second game of the Alex Moore Classic.
Westmont shot 64 percent for the game in improving to 2-0 in the GSAC and 14-3 overall. CJ Miller scored 20 points and Cooper Damron added 15 points.
The Warriors led by five at halftime (37-32) and then went on a 23-10 run to break open the game. They continually frustrated the defense of San Diego Christian with good ball movement.
San Diego Christian staged a brief rally and pulled to within 10 points (72-62), but the Warriors regained control and went on an 18-10 run to put the game away.
