San Marcos continued its solid play in beating Ventura 3-1 in a Channel League girls soccer match on Tuesday.
“We were confident and calm, and played collective and together,” said San Marcos coach Macie Berlin after the team’s second straight league win.
The Royals, who were coming off a win against rival Dos Pueblos, scored three goals in a six-minute span in the first half. Ella Brewer gave them a 1-0 lead off an assist from Emily Allen in the 32nd minute. Three minutes later, Oliva Jones fed Allen for the second goal.
Allen tallied the third goal on a breakout started by Libby Brymer. Brymer fed Jones, who passed to Allen for the goal.
Ventura scored in the second half.
“Ventura came back with a vengeance,” Berlin said. “We hung on and we fought through it. We did our game justice.”
San Marcos (2-0-0, 6-1-2) plays host to Santa Barbara on Thursday night.
