Dos Pueblos appeared to be heading for a 1-0 win against perennial power Buena, but the Bulldogs managed to score the equalizer in the fourth minute of extra time and the Channel League girls soccer opener ended in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
“I was pleased with the effort the girls put on, but we have to do better than that,” DP coach Pato Guererro said.
The Chargers missed some quality scoring chances in the game.
Ady Willett gave DP a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute, finishing an assist from Malia Morales. It was her ninth goal of the season.
The Charger defense kept Buena at bay, but the Bulldogs were able to take advantage of the extra time given by the referee. They scored the tying goal off a corner kick.
Dos Pueblos, now 10-2-4 on the season, is back in action Thursday at San Marcos.
