Bishop Diego’s girls soccer team took down Fillmore 3-1 on Thursday for its fifth Frontier League win in six games.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a goal by Jordan Price.
After halftime, Gabby Koepenick gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead on a goal assisted by Judith Angulo. Koepenick scored again in the 79th minute after Fillmore had cut the lead to 2-1.
The Cardinals needed several “amazing saves” from goalie Kate Giannini to stay in front according to Bishop Diego head coach Tessa Binkley.
“Both defense and offense really came together for a great win,” Binkley said.
The Cardinals play again on Tuesday at home vs. St. Bonaventure.
