Greer Shull scored nine of her 23 points in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s 41-40 Frontier League victory for Bishop Diego over Santa Paula.
Shull carried Bishop from eight points behind to start the quarter. Near the end, Shull’s clutch 3-pointer tied the score at 38-38 and her final point, a free throw, ended up being the difference.
Charlie Fling scored two possessions after Shull drained her 3-pointer to give Bishop a 40-38 lead. After Shull made it 41-38, Santa Paula scored with sixteen seconds left.
Bishop Diego was able to hold on despite missing a few free throws in the final minute.
The result keeps the Cardinals of Santa Barbara unbeaten in league play at 3-0. They have a big week coming up with league games vs. Carpinteria and La Reina.
