GBK: Lions jump on Cate early, roll in Condor debut

Providence Hall went on a 10-0 run to start the game and never looked back in beating Cate 43-24 in the Lions’ debut in the Condor League for girls basketball.

Sydney Hedges was dominating, scoring 25 points, grabbing seven rebounds, blocking four shots and making four steals.

Cate coach Jay Dorion was impressed by the Lions, who are 10-3 on the year.

“Providence Hall is a good team with five scoring threats and one very good offensive weapon,” he said.

Lizzy Beebe was a force on the boards for the Lions, grabbing 12 rebounds.

Brittany Newsome played a solid game for Cate with 9 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

“She is becoming a force to be reckoned with and she held Providence Hall’s scoring threat on the block to zero points,” said Dorion.
