Dessy Coleman put on a showcase performance for Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a 57-50 win over St. Paul in the Public School vs. Private School Challenge at St. Bernard’s High in Westchester on Saturday.
Coleman and the Dons (15-5) played tough defense in the second half to turn back the Swordsmen in the showcase event.
Ivette Gil scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds and freshman Amber Melgoza hauled down 13 boards.
Santa Barbara returns returns to Channel League play Tuesday, hosting Dos Pueblos. At halftiime of the game, the Dons will retire the jersey of former star Holly Ford Emerson.
