Buena ran out to a 10-0 lead and rolled past Dos Pueblos 58-40 in a Channel League girls basketball opener on Tuesday night at Sovine Gym.
DP managed to pull within 15-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Buena took over the with its aggressive play.
Charger coach Phil Sherman felt the Bulldogs were playing too physical and complained to officials. He was hit with two technical fouls and was ejected from the game.
Buena kept the pressure on and increased its lead to 54-26 by the end of the third quarter.
DP, led by the shooting of Brandy Jimmenez, had a good fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 14-4. Jimmenez was the Chargers’ leading scorer with nine points.
DP falls to 6-9 while Buena improves to 13-6.
