Dos Pueblos distance running star Bryan Fernandez revealed his college choice at Wednesday night’s Charger home basketball game against Santa Barbara.
During a halftime ceremony at center court, Fernandez pulled open his letterman’s jacket and was wearing a University of Oregon T-shirt.
Fernandez, the CIF Division 2 State Cross Country Champion and the CIF Southern Section Champion, chose Oregon over UCLA and Arizona State. The Ducks are a perennial power in NCAA Division 1 cross country and track and field.
Fernandez, who won 11 races without a defeat this past season, last week was named the Gatorade State Cross Country Runner of the Year. He is in the running for the National Runner of the Year award.
