Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball game against Dos Pueblos on Tuesday night was the third-straight year that the Dons dedicated a game to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.
This time they brought their friends.
“This year we wanted to incorporate all winter sports,” explained Santa Barbara High senior Ivette Gil, a girls basketball player who is also the Student Body President.
With all the winter sports teams now participating, the effort has been expanded to become “Think Pink Week” at Santa Barbara High.
Student-athletes were selling Think Pink t-shirts and wristbands at the games and during lunch in the main hall throughout the week.
“It’s really awesome, you get to raise awareness about breast cancer and you kind of get to promote your own sport,” said Dons water polo player Maddie Trabucco. “It shows that athletes are aware of things that are happening in the community.”
All proceeds will benefit the Santa Barbara Breast Cancer Resource Center.
