Oaks Christian denied Carpinteria High’s boys soccer team its fourth straight Tri-Valley League win on Wednesday, as the Lions and the Warriors tied 1-1.
The Warriors are now 3-0-1 in league play. The Lions are 0-2-2.
Oaks Christian scored first and quickly, gaining a 1-0 advantage in the first five minutes.
The Warriors answered in the 50th minute, when Carlos Orozco was credited for a goal for being the nearest player to a Lions defender that knocked in an own goal.
“The team will learn and grow from tonight’s tie,” said Warriors head coach Leonardo Quintero. “Credit goes to our keeper Lalo Garcia for keeping us in the game with three key saves.”
Carpinteria has another Tri-Valley League match on Friday at home against Santa Paula. Kickoff is 5 p.m.
