Cate’s boys soccer team didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard in Wednesday’s Condor League match with Besant Hill as the Rams scored the first of seven goals in the second minute of a 7-0 victory.
Iman Fardghassemi assisted on a header by Joel Serugo that gave the Rams an almost immediate 1-0 lead.
Cate made it 5-0 with four goals – including two from Abhay Singh – in a nine-minute span half-way through the first half. Junior Abraham Tall made it 6-0 with his first goal of the season that came just before halftime.
Starting goalkeeper Keller Mochel recorded a goal as a field player in the 65th minute to complete the score.
Those that didn’t score but provided quality performances according to head coach Peter Mack included freshman Dean Smith, junior Andrew Robbins, and sophomore Patrick Thomas.
The result improves Cate to 5-1-1, 2-0 in Condor League. The Rams, currently ranked No. 4 in Division 6, will have a test on Thursday when they travel to Santa Ynez.
