Cate trumped Dunn 6-1 in Wednesday’s Condor League game played in Los Olivos.
The Rams led 2-0 at halftime but Dunn scored first in the second half to cut their lead in half. It was the first Condor League goal Cate has allowed since the 2010-11 season.
The realization seemed to ignite a four-goal barrage. Cate would score four goals in 11 minutes, including two from Joshua Yaro and the second of the game by Geoffrey Acheampong.
“Although we controlled play for most of the game, it took until the second half and seeing 50 percent of our lead disappear for us to play with greater focus and urgency in the attacking third,” explained Cate head coach Peter Mack.
Tyler Douglas also scored for Cate, which was credited with its second goal of the day on a cross by Acheampong that was knocked in for a Dunn own goal.
Cate is 5-0 in league play and 9-2-1 overall.
