Santa Barbara jumped on Buena early and kept the pressure on throughout the match to score a 3-1 Channel League boys soccer victory on the road on Tuesday.
Leo Adame finished a cross from Matt Medina in the fifth minute to give Santa Barbara a 1-0 lead.
“We played well in the first half,” Santa Barbara coach Todd Heil said. “We possessed the ball nicely.”
The Dons stepped up their attack in the second half and got a goal from Pepe Barron in the 50th minute and penalty kick from Jelan Hutton in the 76th minute. Alec Larson was taken down in the box to earn the PK.
“We played with a sense of urgency in the second half to get that second goal,” said Heil.
Buena scored its goal in the second half.
The Dons, ranked sixth in the latest CIF Division 1 poll, plays at San Marcos on Thursday.
