Carpinteria overcame the absence of four starters and stunned Division 1 school Ventura 1-0 on the road on Monday.
Ivan Julian scored the game-winner on a rebound off a blistering shot by Luis Cisneros in the 28th minute.
“With four starters missing in action, we came together as a unit and pulled out the victory,” said Carpinteria coach Leo Quintero. “Credit goes to our goalkeeper, Lalo Garcia, as well as to our reserve players for picking up the pace in a tough friendly match.”
Carpinteria (7-2-3) returns to Tri-Valley League play on Wednesday at home against Fillmore.
